Director of Security

This position is responsible for managing and directing all security operations at a hotel property. Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for the following security responsibilities: maintaining the physical and technical security systems of the property, including the Fire and Life Safety systems; Emergency Planning and Crisis Response incident planning; organizing and directing specialized security support for meetings and events on the property; managing and directing the Guarding Operations for the property, management of Security Capital Expenditures and the annual operating budget for the department, local coordination of Homeland Security defense initiatives; all law enforcement liaison for the property (local, state and federal), and Security Awareness programs and security training for employees and security staff.  Under the general guidance and direction of the Global Security department, this role will be responsible for developing and implementing specialized and environmentally tailored physical and technical security measures, and bespoke security support and training programs for the property.  This position will serve as a security advisor to the General Manager and ExCom staff for all security related issues at the property.  The position will work closely with the entire Global Security department to implement strategic security programs and initiatives.

Duties Include:

* Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the security operations of the hotel
* Develop and recommend the annual budget, annual security plans and objectives for the hotel, and manages within those approved plans
* Supervising the daily tours and operations of proprietary security officers, managing the operations of contracted security personnel, and managing and directing the operations of augmenting security personnel engaged for special events on the premises
* Drafting and implementing security directives, policies and procedures for the property, coordinating the implementation of security standards and operating procedures for the property
* Participation in the hotel's MOD program
* Organizing and managing special projects, events and VIP visits at the property
* Coaching and counseling security employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
* Conducting Security training for security staff and Security Awareness training for employees at the property

Qualifications

Qualifications:

* Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and physical impairments
* At least 4 years of hotel Security and/or Management experience
* Service oriented style with polished presentation skills and effective writing abilities
* Demonstrated ability to develop emergency plans and procedures such as fire response plans, bomb threat and incident response plans, etc.
* Demonstrated ability to understand, utilize and manage various property security equipment such as; camera systems, access control systems, key card systems, alarms systems, room safes, etc.
* Demonstrated leadership skills
* Computer proficient and able to work with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications
* Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
* Ability to successfully work independently and autonomously, with little guidance or supervision
* Ability to earn CPP certification
* Completion of the Reid Technique of Interviewing & Interrogation (or six months from date of hire)

Education Requirements:  Baccalaureate degree preferred, or minimum of 8 years experience in Security or in Law Enforcement in a management position.  Preference given to persons with education majors in Law Enforcement, Security Administration, Criminal Justice, Hotel Management, Business Management, or related fields of study.

CPP certification or similar security designation a plus.
